The Learning Commons supports the total school philosophy by providing a wide variety of materials (both print and non-print), equipment and services to students and teachers. This is a center for inquiry where students may develop their critical thinking skills, to effectively use multi-media resources in a maker space, to think creatively, to practice decision making skills and to assimilate knowledge.

Technology instruction is integrated into all curricular areas within the classroom setting and is an essential tool for teaching and learning. We are a wireless learning environment so that students and teachers can access technology throughout the building. As we likely know from our own experiences with the digital world, past practices of restricting and controlling access to digital media are shrinking and with that trend comes the need to educate students on the ethical and responsible use of technologies. 

The term “digital citizenship” is now used to define the important element of the use of technology by everyone. Tumble Books 

All CBE Students and staff now have access to TumbleBooks Library (K-6) resources through the Calgary Public Library (CPL). This license has been paid for by the CBE as part of an agreement with the Calgary Catholic School District and the CPL for the 2017-2018 school year. Users can access the resources from school, library, home and mobile devices. This includes access to over 1,000 resources including e-books, read-alongs, graphic novels, full length chapter books, National Geographic videos, and puzzles and games based on Tumblebooks contents.
