At Royal Oak School we ...
- Believe that relationships with and amongst students, staff and families are at the foundation of our strong school community.
- Believe in building a caring community within our school where people feel welcome, valued, safe, supported, and respected. It is our strong belief that the school must create a learning environment that nurtures the intellectual, emotional and physical growth of its students. Social emotional learning is embedded into our daily instruction.
- Are committed to the shared responsibility, through regular communication, for the growth and development of all our learners, where we work to enable each child to learn in an environment that recognizes, celebrates and attends to their individual strengths and needs.
- Are committed to taking up the Alberta curriculum in a manner that makes learning meaningful and will focus on engaging students through hands-on and inquiry-based learning experiences.
- Have an active and dedicated School Council and Fundraising Association that meets monthly. They financially support both artistic and athletic residencies to enrich our programming each school year.
- Involve parent volunteers who are an incredible asset to our staff and students.
- Plan for whole-school events and field trips as well as buddy class activities to develop a community connection and sense of belonging in our school.
- Are committed to learning on and from the land by leveraging outdoor learning experiences for students. We are actively engaged in exploring the naturalized areas and wetlands within our community.

School Development Plan
Each year, our school prepares a development plan with input from teachers, school staff, students and parents. We review many sources of data, including report cards, provincial achievement test results and school surveys. Based on this information, we create our plan identifying targeted areas for growth. Our school development plan is not meant to represent all of the work that takes place in our school, but rather it focuses on specific areas for improvement.

School Improvement Results Report
Our school also prepares a results plan, which looks at our previous school year. It shows our students’ achievement and progress in meeting the goals and outcomes as set out by the CBE and Alberta Education, outlines some of the highlights of our school development plan and gives an overview of our school. You can look on the CBE website for system-wide results.
