Dear Royal Oak School Families,

Reminder- No School April 18 & 21: A friendly reminder to families that there will be no school on Friday, April 18 in observance of Good Friday, and no school on Monday, April 21 due to the CBE System Professional Learning Day. On this day, staff will be engaged in valuable professional development, including the CBE Languages Symposium and other learning opportunities to support teaching and student success. We look forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday, April 22. If you observe or celebrate it - Happy Easter!

Earth Day Spirit Day, Tuesday, April 22: Celebrate your appreciation for our home and beautiful planet Earth by dressing in nature-themed clothing. This might be simply wearing the colours blue and green or perhaps you might like to dress up like your favorite animal.  You might choose to wear animal prints or floral patterns. You might want to wear a shirt with a picture of the mountains on it. Maybe you'd like to put flowers in your hair? Really, the options are almost endless.

Sending Birthday / Holiday Treats to School: Some families have inquired about sending food to school for special events such as birthdays or cultural celebrations. We have students in our school with multiple allergies to a range of products and ingredients, as well as families with other food restrictions. As such, in following with CBE Food Health & Safety guidelines, we request that students do not bring treats to school for special events to be shared with others. We thank everyone for their understanding.

Grade 4 Year End Farewell: If you are the parent of a grade 4 student, please mark your calendars as we will be holding a Grade 4 Farewell Assembly on Wednesday, June 25th in the morning. The exact time is still to be decided. We will be able to welcome two family members per grade 4 student to attend this event.  More information to follow later in May.

Grade 4’s Tour to WD Pratt School: On Friday, May 1, our Grade 4 students will attend a tour at WD Pratt School. They are also hosting an Open House that same evening, inviting families to the school to help with the transition to middle school. Please note that your grade 4 child will automatically be designated and registered at WD Pratt School, unless you have notified the school that your child will be attending a different school for the 2025-26 school year.

William D. Pratt 2025 Open House: WD Pratt School is excited to invite new and incoming students and their parents/guardians to join us for an Open House on Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Please join us in the main gym for ‘Welcome and Introductions’ at 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm. If you have questions, please contact the main office at William D. Pratt School at williamdpratt@cbe.ab.ca or 403-817-3520

Wishing you a great week ahead!

Sincerely,

Michelle Ryskamp,

Principal, Royal Oak School
