Dear Royal Oak School Families,

Wishing all of our families a great long weekend, and a Happy Easter for those who celebrate. We hope you have a wonderful time connecting with loved ones and enjoying a little break.

We are hopeful for some seasonable spring weather next week as we continue our engaging Nature Play Residency with our students spending more time learning outdoors.

Volunteers Needed for School Class Photo Day: We need volunteers to help Class Photo Day on April 14th run smoothly! All volunteers must have CBE Police Clearance complete. Sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0A4FA9AE2CA5F94-63119043-class#/

Volunteers Needed for our upcoming Nature Play Residency: We are excited to get outside and play with your kids this spring with our Nature Play team starting March 30th and running until May 5th! Nature Play is all about enhancing and promoting healthy child development. During our outdoor play residency, classes will get the opportunity to engage in outdoor play experiences at the school’s nearby natural spaces within walking distance of the school. The sessions are designed to encourage creativity, problem solving, resilience, and teamwork, as well as developmentally appropriate gross motor, fine motor, and social skills. Teachers will have lots of opportunities to learn as well, and our hope is that the ideas and learning experiences can continue to resonate in the school, long after the residency wraps up! In order to support our teachers and students with this learning experience, we need volunteer help.  All volunteers must have valid police clearance completed through CBE. Please sign-up using the following link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0A4FA9AE2CA5F94-62332284-nature#/

Extra Set of Clothing: With the weather warming up and the snow melting, we now have the problem with puddles and mud near our school playground.  We would appreciate it if you put an extra set of clothing (pants, shirt, socks and underwear) in your child’s backpack in the event they slip and fall in the water or mud.

On-Going Registration and ‘Returning to Royal Oak Next Year’ Survey: Thank you to those families who have already completed this important survey, however we are missing responses for approximately half of our student population.

To help us get an accurate count of students returning to Royal Oak School for the 2026-2027, we ask that parents complete this survey for each child in the family. Accurate enrolment data is key to ensuring we staff accordingly for the next school year. An early understanding of our enrolment numbers will be beneficial as we look at grade configurations and school organization beginning next month. We kindly ask that you complete this form ASAP.

School Council AGM Notification: You are invited to attend our School Council Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday, May 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the school staff room. At this meeting, we will be filling open School Council positions and making important decisions for the upcoming school year. All parents and guardians are welcome and encouraged to attend.

School Fees: Just a quick reminder to log into your MYCBE account to pay your outstanding field trip fees and/ or central school fees that are now due. We will be reaching out to individual families who have not applied for school waivers to see if we can arrange a payment plan. Please make every effort to pay your fees and please stop in at the office if you require support. Thank you in advance.

Warm Regards,

Michelle Ryskamp & Nadine Duque

Principal & Assistant Principal, Royal Oak School
