Dear Royal Oak School Families,

As we head into Spring Break, we would like to wish all of our students, families and staff a wonderful and restful holiday. We hope this time provides an opportunity to relax, spend time together, and enjoy some well-deserved rest. We look forward to welcoming everyone back after the break, refreshed and ready for the final months of the school year. Have a safe and enjoyable Spring Break!

Warm wishes to all of our families and staff members who are celebrating Eid al-Fitr. May this special time bring joy, peace, and meaningful moments with family and friends. Eid Mubarak to everyone celebrating!

School Conferences – Thank you!: Thank you to all of the families who joined our staff on Thursday evening and Friday for Student-Led Conferences. We appreciate the time you took to come to the school and engage in your child’s learning. These conferences provide a wonderful opportunity for students to share their work, celebrate the progress they have made as learners, and reflect on their growth. We hope you were able to celebrate your child’s accomplishments while also identifying some next steps for learning together. Parents and caregivers are important partners in a child’s education. Supporting basic literacy and numeracy skills, as well as your child’s social-emotional well-being at home, plays a key role in helping students feel confident and successful at school. Thank you for being such an important partner of your child’s learning journey.

Safety at Royal Oak School: We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the parent volunteers who have been helping place pylons and road safety signs around the school the past couple of weeks. Your time and commitment help create a safer environment for our students and families during busy arrival and dismissal times. We would also like to remind all families to please follow the posted signage and traffic guidelines around the school. By slowing down, respecting the pylons, and using designated crossing areas, we help ensure everyone’s safety. Our children are always watching, and when we model safe driving and pedestrian habits, we help them learn how to be responsible and safe in our community.

On-Going Registration and ‘Returning to Royal Oak Next Year’ Survey: Thank you to those families who have already completed this important survey, however we are missing responses for approximately half of our student population.

To help us get an accurate count of students returning to Royal Oak School for the 2026-2027, we ask that parents complete this survey for each child in the family. Accurate enrolment data is key to ensuring we staff accordingly for the next school year. An early understanding of our enrolment numbers will be beneficial as we look at grade configurations and school organization beginning next month. We kindly ask that you complete this form ASAP.

Volunteers Needed for our upcoming Nature Play Residency: We can’t wait to get outside and play with your kids this spring with our Nature Play team starting March 30th and running until May 5th! Nature Play is all about enhancing and promoting healthy child development. During our outdoor play residency, classes will get the opportunity to engage in outdoor play experiences at the school’s nearby natural spaces within walking distance of the school. The sessions are designed to encourage creativity, problem solving, resilience, and teamwork, as well as developmentally appropriate gross motor, fine motor, and social skills. Teachers will have lots of opportunities to learn as well, and our hope is that the ideas and learning experiences can continue to resonate in the school, long after the residency wraps up! In order to support our teachers and students with this learning experience, we need volunteer help.  All volunteers must have valid police clearance completed through CBE.
