Dear Royal Oak School Families,

Bike & Roll to School Day: What an incredible turnout on May 28th! 321 students rode their bikes, scooters, skateboards and roller blades to school! A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a success. A very special shout-out to Ms. Weber, Alison Colville (School Council Volunteer Coordinator) and our phenomenal volunteers—your energy, speed, and dedication got everyone into the gym efficiently and safely in the morning. They also managed to keep all the wheels organized and moved outside for an easy and efficient pick-up at the end of the school day. We are so lucky to have such a committed group of volunteers and such a supportive and caring school community to engage in this big event.

Bus Students - Change of Plans: As the weather warms up and more students are choosing to bike or walk home, we want to kindly remind families to inform the office or come directly to the bus line if there is a change in your child’s end-of-day transportation. If your child is biking, walking, or getting picked up instead of taking the bus, it’s important that we are aware to ensure all students are accounted for and get home safely. Thank you for helping us keep dismissal time smooth and secure for everyone.

Leaving Royal Oak School for 2025–26? Have you moved out of Royal Oak, Rocky Ridge or Glacier Ridge communities or are you moving schools next year? Whether your family is moving, your child is transferring to a new school, or you’re heading off on an exciting adventure, we’d greatly appreciate a heads-up so we can plan ahead for the next school year. Please call our front office at 403-777-6279 to ensure we have all the Information needed to support a successful transition for your child and family.

Sports Day is coming! Our annual Sports Day is Friday June 6th from 10:00 –12:00.  We are once again looking for an enthusiastic group of volunteers to help run games and activities on this exciting day!   Mark your calendars and come out and play!  We need volunteers to help with setup, running stations, take down and distributing a treat to students afterwards. Please consider volunteering your time for this fun event: ROS Volunteers: 2025 Sports Day

Lost & Found: Our Lost & Found is overflowing again with jackets, water bottles, lunch containers, and other items looking to be reunited with their owners! As we approach the end of the school year, we kindly ask families to check the Lost & Found before the end of June. All unclaimed items will be donated or repurposed after that time. Feel free to stop by during school hours—we’d love to help these items find their way home!

Warmer Days Ahead: As the warmer days settle in, we want to ensure that all students stay comfortable, safe, and focused while at school—especially in classrooms that can get quite warm. Thank you for helping us keep students healthy and ready to learn, even on the hottest days. Here are a few ways you can help your child prepare for the heat:

·       Dress for the weather – light, breathable clothing and a hat for outdoor time.

·       Pack a reusable water bottle – staying hydrated is essential!

·       Apply sunscreen at home in the morning if your child will be spending time outdoors.

·       Send extra snacks – the heat can take a lot out of active kids.

Library Book Returns: With the end of the school year quickly approaching, we need to make sure that our library books are returned and accounted for. Please take some time to look around the house and return any overdue books that belong to the school.

Wishing you a great week ahead!

Sincerely,

Michelle Ryskamp,

Principal, Royal Oak School
