Dear Royal Oak School Families,

We look forward to our final week of the 2025-2026 school year. This will be a busy one with our whole school Farewell Assembly on Tuesday, our Grade 4 Farewell on Wednesday, our School Council Family Carnival on Thursday evening, and our final half a day of school on Friday.

Grade 4 Year End Farewell: If you are the parent of a grade 4 student, we look forward to seeing you for the Grade 4 Farewell Assembly on Wednesday, June 24th from 10:45 – 11:45am in our gymnasium. We will be able to welcome only two family members per grade 4 student to attend this event.  More information has been sent home from your child’s grade 4 classroom teacher. We are grateful that our School Council will be sponsoring a pizza lunch for our grade 4 students that day. Permission notices were sent home earlier this week as well.

Viewing Report Cards: The CBE no longer prints report cards in January or June to send home with students.  Families can view online report cards starting on June 25 using your MyCBE parent account. Report cards can also be downloaded and printed by families at home. They will only be available for viewing until July 31, 2026. For best access to information, login to the MyCBE portal instead of using the PowerSchool app. Need help? Check out this video for more information on how to sign in, navigate the portal, toggle between more than one child’s report card, and more.  MyCBE Student and Parent/Legal Guardian Account Sign-in - Kindergarten - Gr.9

Staffing Updates: This week, we want to take the time to identify several staff members who will not be returning to Royal Oak School for the 2026-27 school year, as they are moving on to new opportunities. We have been a better school because of these people:

·       Mrs. Melissa Dixon will be retiring from the CBE as a full-time teacher at the end of this school year. Mrs. Dixon has made a lasting impact on our school community through her dedication, care, and commitment to student success, and she will be greatly missed. We hope to see Mrs. Dixon back next year as a substitute teacher. This new chapter will provide her with greater flexibility and more time to enjoy her hobbies, family, travel, and all the great things that come with retirement.

·       Mrs. Laree Lake has been supporting our students over the last two months as an intervention teacher. Her temporary contract will conclude at the end of June. We are thankful for the care, dedication, and flexibility and wish her all the best and hope to see her back in the fall as a guest teacher.

Planning for the 2026-2027 School Year: As new student registrations continue to come in and some existing families identifying that they are moving out of our designated communities over the summer, our student numbers continue to fluctuate for the 2026-2027 school year.  In addition, our school was recently notified that we would receive funding for two additional teachers, as part of the Alberta Government Class Size Reduction Grant. These have been specified for our grade 1 and 4 classes. We have adjusted our classroom numbers at some of our grade levels based on these changes; four kindergarten classes (2 x AM and 2 x PM), five classes at grade 1, five classes at grade 2, five classes at grade 3, and six classrooms at grade 4. With these changes, we continue to work on creating balanced class lists for the coming school year. Teachers will be reaching out to families by email / School Messenger on Thursday, August 27 to notify families of their classroom.

Lost and Found: Our Lost & Found is still very full and we would like to connect items with their rightful owners. Please stop by the school to reclaim your child’s missing items. Any unclaimed items will be donated by June 30. 2026.
