Thanks for the yummy treats and thanks to Parent Council
Big thanks to all the parents who helped to organize the Pot Luck for teachers on Thursday evening prior to interview. Thanks for spoiling us! Also, a big thanks parent council for also paying for the Dance Play residency that just finished yesterday. What a great experience for the kids!
Thanks for being a partner in your child’s journey
Thanks to all the families who made a point to book a conference with their child’s teacher as this shows students that we are partners in their education journey. Please remember that your child’s teacher is your first point of contact should you have questions or concerns. Please see the following link for teacher emails: https://school.cbe.ab.ca/school/royaloak/about-us/contact/staff/pages/default.aspx
Student Safety
This is just a reminder to drivers to please slow down and follow the traffic rules posted in the area. We have had multiple reports of people speeding, doing illegal U Turns and not stopping for students in the crosswalks. Thanks for helping to keep our kids safe.
Veterans Food Drive – final week of collection
The upcoming week (Nov. 27 – Dec. 1) will be the last for collecting food donations for the Veterans food drive. For families that still want to participate, we would ask that you send in non-perishable food items. Each grade team will be given a box to collect donations in for the month of November. Here is a list of items that you could send:
Canned fruit and vegetables, crackers, canned soup, rice, pasta, cereal, beans, canned fish, personal hygiene products (shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant) and other non-perishable items.
Thanks for your support for this great cause
U R Strong
If you have not signed up for a U R Strong membership, please click on the following link: FREE Parent Membership. This program is being implemented school wide and there are many resources that can help you when your child is having friendship issues.
When to Step-in & When to Step-back: We really want to work as a team to empower your child with skills to create healthy friendships and be resilient. As parents ourselves, we know it’s sometimes heartbreaking to watch your child struggle. Here’s an article from our friends at URSTRONG suggesting when to step-in or when to step-back when they’re experiencing conflict in a friendship (click on underlined link above).
