Many Thanks
I wanted to say a big thank you to all those who were able to attend our first School Council meeting of the year. ; School Council helps to support many initiatives at ROS and is an important part of parents having input into what is happening in the school. ; To give you an idea where the hard-earned volunteer fundraising dollars go, this year Council will be supporting: A year long Artist in Residency, Dance Residency, Books for the Library, Buses for field trips, Art supplies, dongles for computers and many others. ; Without these funding efforts, these costs would be moved to parents to pay or we would have to cancel these extras. ; Thanks for your support!
Terry Fox Run
We held our annual Terry Fox run today and had fun carrying on Terry’s run. ; Thanks to everyone who donated funds to the cause. ; Money will be taken to William Pratt and they will count it and make a donation on behalf of both schools. ; A big thanks to Ms. Weber ;and all her parent helpers for setting up the course, supervising during the run and for taking down the course. ; Thanks to School Council for the cool down Popsicle's at the end of the run!
Not Here for Pick up?
Students have been told that if a parent/caregiver is not here for their usual pick up to please come to the office. ; We will contact parents and have the students picked up from the office. ;
Yellow Bus Rider – Parent Pick up from the Bus Line
To expedite students getting on the bus, we will be having students come to the bus and attendance will be done at the bus doors. ; If parents are picking students up from the bus line, please come to the parking lot doors to pick up your child.

ROS Scholastic Book Fair
We are excited to announce the return of our school’s Scholastic book fair! It will be held on Thursday, September 21. This is a fantastic opportunity to explore new and bestselling titles right here at our school. Best of all, every purchase made at the fair supports our school and encourages a love for reading among our students!
Fair Hours:
- Morning Session: 9:15 am to 11:45 am (Exclusively for Kindergarten parents who have morning teacher meetings)
- Evening Session: 4:30 pm to 8:00pm (Open to all parents during our Meet the Teacher Night)
We look forward to seeing you there and thank you for your support in fostering a love for reading in our school community.
U R Strong School
We are excited to announce that we are a U R Strong School! ; This program will become part of our Health and Wellbeing curriculum for all grades at ROS. ; The focus of this program is to teach students how to navigate friendship difficulties and build positive friendships. ; Thanks to Parent Council for paying for this program. ; As part of the membership fee, parents can also register for a U R Strong membership for free. ; There are many resources that parents might find helpful in coaching their child through what can be some turbulent waters as students move through their school years. ;
You are invited to take advantage of a ;FREE Parent Membership ;to access hundreds of resources – including an 8 session video series. This will allow you to learn the same language & strategies being taught in the classroom through the Friendology 101 curriculum. We hope that, as a URSTRONG Family, you will reinforce the important messages of empowerment, self-compassion, & kindness at home. ; Please see below for a short video about Friendship Fires and how to support your child when they are struggling with friendships.
What is a Friendship Fire?: ;In this podcast interview, learn all about why friendship skills are important and how we’re supporting kids through URSTRONG’s Friendology curriculum to put out their Friendship Fires®.
Labelling Student Coats, Gloves etc.
As you can imagine, we accumulate many lost and found items throughout the year. We would ask that you please label your child’s clothing/supplies (coats, snow pants, gloves, lunch kits etc.) with your child’s first initial and last name. This will make it possible to return it when it is found or if they come home with the wrong shoes, you can return them to the school. Inside the front doors, we have our lost and found items. Unclaimed items will be bagged up and donated to charity at the winter break and at the end of June.
