Are You Leaving Royal Oak School?

We are currently planning for next year and we need your help.  If your child is in grades K-3 and you will not be returning to ROS, please email or call the school to let us know.  Thanks for your help with this as it helps us to make more accurate staffing decisions for the fall.  RoyalOak@cbe.ab.ca or 403-777-6279.

Have you had your say regarding the 2024/2025 Start and End Times

If you have not yet given your vote regarding the start and end times for next year (2024/2025 school year) please see the QR Code or link previously sent to have your say.  Please remember, ONLY 1 Vote per Family.  The survey closes Friday, March 22.

·       Some of the feedback thus far has been around the strange start and end times - why can’t they be tied more closely to Pratt’s times?  Please note, our times are dictated by the transportation department. Since we are a busing school, buses needs time to pickup and drop off Pratt students before completing their routes for our ROS student pickup and drop off.

·       Why can’t Pratt start later and ROS sooner (teen sleep patterns)?  Middle school athletics need time for students to get to their events at other schools, so they cannot start later.  Most of these events begin at 4:00 and go as late at 8:30 or 9:00 PM sometimes (ex: basketball games – 2 per night).

Conferences March 21 and 22

Student Led Conferences are coming up on Thursday, March 21.  This will be an opportunity for your child/children to lead you through some of their learning activities from the last term. Please refer to the times below about when to drop in with your child and plan to spend approximately 20-30 minutes in your child’s classroom. There will be an informal opportunity to talk with your child’s teacher. Please know there will be other families in the room.

Literacy Month at ROS continues!

A HUGE THANK YOU to all the families who donated books for the Book Drive! We were overwhelmed with the response – your donated books will go toward restocking the Learning Commons with new and favourite books. The remainder of the books will be sold at the Book Sale on March 21 during Student-led conferences in the Gathering Space. Books are $1 each – cash and card accepted.

Don't forget to join us at the Crowfoot Public Library on March 19 from 6-7:30. We will have story time, a scavenger hunt, and you can sign up for a library card. Get connected with our local library and the many services they offer. It's a great chance to take out some books because......

The Read-a-Thon starts March 18! Make sure your child fills out their Read-a-Thon Time Log every day and keeps track of their minutes read. All participants in the Read-a-Thon will be entered to win prizes and there will be class prizes for raising the most money and reading the most minutes. The Read-a-Thon is a great way to encourage reading everyday and raise money for our school. If you've misplaced your Time Log, you can print a copy here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-V0EqhWWQHD2aoXaMgWsHllFLBWXTsg6/view?usp=drive_link

Keep Reading Royal Oak!
