Family Skate Day

A huge thanks to all the people involved in the family skate day.  Whoever cleared and flooded the ice needs a special thanks for their efforts in that cold, nasty weather.  Although the weather did not cooperate, those that came had fun and could eat as many Cobs treats as they wanted.

Hug and Go Questions and Answers

A huge thanks to the parents who have been helping with the hug and go out front.  Traffic appears to be moving smoother in this area.  I hope that people now have the idea of how this works and we can slowly pull back on the need for volunteers.  Below questions asked of a police officer while he was here regarding traffic in the area:

1) Can I pull a U-turn in a school zone or a playground zone? The answer is no. You can never pull a U-turn in a school zone or playground zone. There is space at the end of the road in the cul-de-sac for people to legally and safely turn around. Please do not park in the middle of the cul-de-sac as this creates a big problem for those needing to turn around

* Also, at that corner please be aware of the traffic laws. The street in FRONT of the school has the right of way. The street that the busses are on has the yield at that intersection.

2) Can I park in front of the school? No, you can never park in front of the school between 8:00AM and 9:30 AM school days. This is a no parking zone…as indicated by the posted signage. Whether there are volunteers present or not, you cannot park and leave your vehicle at any time during those hours.

3) Can I stop in the “no stopping zone/ handicapped parking in front of the kinder doors? I’ll just be a minute…” No, we have students and parents who need this space. If you have a visible placard, please, use this space. If you do not, please use the hug and go space to drop off your kiddos. Or park somewhere else, legally, and walk them over.

4) Can I proceed through the crosswalk while kids and adults are crossing? Again, no. If pedestrians are occupying the crosswalk, please kindly wait till all are safely across before proceeding through.

5) Can I park in people’s driveways?

Not unless you have permission from the homeowner.

6) Can I park ON the cross walk?

No

7) Can I park ON the corner?

No

8) Can I park between the stop sign and the corner?

No

9) Can I dart out between cars to Jay walk wherever I want? With or with out my kids with me?

No and please model using the crosswalks for safety.

10) Can I stop in the middle of the traffic lane, put on my 4 way hazard lights, get my kids out, walk them to the school then come back to my car and drive away while traffic backs up to the 4 way stop sign, 4 blocks away?

No
