May 17 – CBE System Non-Instruction Day – no school for students

May 23 – Bike and Roll to School Day – equipment will be stored in the gym – enter from the compound.  June 6 is the backup day if the weather is not cooperating.

May 29 – Royal Oak/Pratt Pancake Breakfast – details to follow

 

Are You Leaving Royal Oak School?

Please read this – critical information needed for staffing for next year.  ROS has to finalize its staffing for the fall of 2024/2025 on May 2.  We will base our staffing on the number of students that we know will be here plus a few additional spots.  If you will not be at Royal Oak School next year and you have not informed the school yet, please do so as soon as possible.  Thanks for your help with this.

SCHOOL COUNCIL CORNER – EVENTS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

Next Fundraising Society & School Council Meeting – Monday, May 13 @ 6.30pm

 

May is the Annual General Meeting (AGM) for both Fundraising and School Council. We have positions open on both teams that are needing new parents. Email ROSchoolCouncil@gmail.com or ROSFundraisingSociety@gmail.com or attend the May AGM to find out more.

 

Collection for the Mustard Seed Wellness Kits continues until May 10th! Help spread compassion and support those in need.

 

Wellness Week is May 6-10 at Royal Oak School.  Join us all week long for events that promote physical, mental and emotional wellness. 

·       On Monday, May 6 at 4pm the whole family can come for a free outdoor yoga session in the school field. Please bring your own yoga mat. This event is weather dependent.

·       Kids can dress up all week long. Every day is a different theme. Please see the handout that went home with your child for each dress up day. 

·       Check out our new Wellness-themed book bags in the Learning Commons. Students can read books about feelings, play with fidget toys, and have meaningful conversations with friends and family. These bags were funded thanks to money raised from our Read-a-Thon. 

·       Wednesday May 8: take the Water Bottle Challenge! Students can try to finish their whole water bottle by the end of the day. 

·       Friday, May 10: it’s Fresh Fruit Friday! All students will receive a piece of fresh fruit as a snack.

Annual Spring Plant Fundraiser! Deadline to order is May 10 – plant delivery is May 24.

The ROS Fundraising Society Needs You – We’re looking to add new faces to our team in prep for the 2024/2025 school year and are recruiting for the following positions! Training and support provided for all positions.

·       Treasurer – commitment of 2-4 hours per month. Current Treasurer to provide training.

·       Casino Chair – This is a 2-year term. ROS is confirmed for a Casino in Oct/Nov/Dec 2024. This fundraising event provides critical funds (~$60,000) that allow us to enhance our students experience at ROS – including alien inline, $$ for new iPads and Chromebooks, U R Strong, Artist in Residency, and MANY MORE opportunities!
