Volunteer & Program Spotlight

Glenda P., Fun Lunch Coordinator & ROS Council Co-Chair

Glenda Volunteer ROS Council

  • What grade(s) is your child/children at ROS? I have a son in grade 4 at ROS.
  • What motivates you to be involved with ROS Council? I started volunteering when my oldest (now in grade 7) was in kindergarten. It was a great way to feel like part of the school community. I enjoy getting to know the students and the staff at the school and helping out where I can.
  • What is Fun Lunch? Fun Lunch is a volunteer-led program offered to students at ROS. Typically, there is one Fun Lunch and one Fun Snack per month. We use Healthy Hunger for ordering meals and snacks and proceeds from the sales go toward supporting ROS students and their learning needs.
  • What kind of tasks does the Fun Lunch Coordinator do? Fun Lunch is organized by the Fun Lunch Coordinator but is truly a team effort. The Fun Lunch Coordinator works with the ROS Council and Principal to choose dates, prices and vendors. Families place orders online in advance which are delivered to the school by the restaurants. Volunteers come into the school for Fun Lunches and Fun Snacks to help organize and hand out the orders to each class.
  • When are you looking to fill the role of Fun Lunch Coordinator and what does training look like? This is my last year at Royal Oak School. I would like to fill the role of Fun Lunch Coordinator in the next couple of months so there is time to familiarize the new Coordinator/Team with the role before I move on.
  • How can people reach out for more details on how to get involved? ROSFunLunch@gmail.com
