Thank You
Thank you to the school community for making Mr. Hamby’s Farewell so perfect for him. He was so touched by your thoughtfulness and it means so much to us all.
Thank you to School Council and our Grade 4 Volunteers for all of your hard work in making our Movie Nights such a success. It is wonderful to see our school community come together to connect around these special events.
We want to express our sincere gratitude for your support in making our Book Fair a success! Thanks to your generous contributions, we sold over $5,500 worth of books, raising more than $2,600 for our school. These funds will be used to purchase new, popular, and high-quality resources for our learning commons.
Be on the lookout for these exciting new titles coming home with your students in the New Year!
A special thank you goes to all the volunteers from our school community. Their hard work and dedication made this event possible, and we couldn’t have done it without them.
Thank you once again for your support!
Welcome Ms. Jeff Hutton, Acting Principal Royal Oak School
Thank you for such a warm welcome to Royal Oak School. I have, of course, enjoyed meeting many students in their classrooms, outside at lunch and as they arrive and depart on the busses each day. I also enjoyed meeting many parents at the recent Family Movie Night. What a great first hand experience of the spirit of school support and volunteerism. Gord and Kim have shared that make this school special. I have also been so fortunate to see how hard the teachers and all school staff work on behalf of your children during this incredibly busy time of the year. The next two weeks will feel like both a marathon and sprint and I know the staff and students here are up to the challenge.

School Council & Fundraising Society News - Events & Announcements
- WELCOME to Acting Principal Mr.Hutton! We hope that some of you have had a chance to meet and welcome him to ROS. Mr.Hutton will be with us through the month of December.
- Our volunteer of the month is…Lissa S! Lissa is an idea lady! She’s the mastermind behind Literacy Month and has students in Grade 3 and Grade 5. THANK YOU Lissa for everything you bring to our ROS community!
- Parking & crosswalk reminders! We have received quite a few complaints from neighbours & reports made to 311 recently. While we appreciate that snow piles make it more challenging to find parking on any street, this is a gentle reminder that parking & street safety rules still apply.
- Please avoid blocking driveways
- No matter the weather, please do not leave minor children unattended in vehicles
- Thank you to all 42 Grade 4 students and 37 parent volunteers who showed up to make both Movie Nights run smoothly! We deeply appreciate your time & energy that made these community building events a big hit with our students & families.
- Do you have books cluttering up your home? With the holiday season approaching and maybe some decluttering in the works, please consider setting aside gently used kids books for our upcoming Literacy Month Used Book Sale. This was a HUGE success in 2024 with our ROS community. Book collection will begin in March 2025. Stay tuned!
