Changing Weather
As we look ahead to next week, the forecast looks like we might get some snow and we will have cooler temperatures. This is just a reminder to ensure your kids are dressed appropriately for the weather outdoors. We do go outside for much needed recess and lunch recess breaks even when the weather gets quite cold. We will keep students inside when the temperature reaches -20 Celsius, so please keep an eye on the weather. Thanks for your help with this.
SCHOOL COUNCIL & FUNDRAISING SOCIETY NEWS – EVENTS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
· Next School Council & Fundraising Society Meeting
o Join us Monday, Oct 21 from 6.30-8.30pm in the ROS Staff Room to discuss important issues impacting Royal Oak School students and upcoming events
· THANK YOU ROYAL OAK for your support of our Fundraising Society’s Spirit Wear orders and Fall Apple Fundraiser
o Spirit wear orders are with the printer now and we expect to have the orders coming home in backpacks between October 28 and October 30th. I sincerely apologize for the delay and greatly appreciate your patience and support.
o Apple orders have now closed – pick up will be in front of the school on October 23 between 2.45-5.45pm
o Update coming next week on Spirit Wear order delivery
· Our 2024 Casino Fundraiser at Cowboys Casino is 7 days away
o 1-2 Back up volunteers needed for each of these shifts:
§ Friday, October 25 from 11am to 7.30pm
§ Saturday, October 26 from 11am to 7.30pm
§ Saturday, October 26 from 6.45pm to 3.30am

o Thursday Nov 21 & Dec 5 – Doors open 6 pm | Movie starts 6:30 pm
o Where: Royal Oak School
o Cost: $10 per family (up to 6 members)
o Ticket sales open Oct 28 at 6 pm via your Healthy Hunger account
**Kids must be accompanied by an adult**
o Watch your students backpack for an event flyer with extra info coming home next week!
o These movie nights are planned by the Royal Oak School Council & Fundraising Society with support from our ROS parent/guardian volunteers

· Royal Oak School is now accepting donations for Jacket Racket
o There is a large box inside the main office to bring any clean, new or gently used winter clothing (e.g., jackets, snow pants, mitts, toques) – please put items in a bag and group mittens and outfits together
o These items will be distributed to children at schools across the city who are in need of warm winter clothing
o Donations will be accepted until Thursday, November 21
o This is a good chance to clean out last year’s too small items as we head towards the coldest season of the year!
