Nut Aware School – PLEASE READ

We have several students at our school who have life threatening allergies to nuts and nut products.  We ask that you do NOT send any products for snacks or lunch that contain nuts for your child.  We thank you for your help with this critical step in keeping all our kids safe.

ROS Scholastic Book Fair

We are excited to announce the return of our school’s Scholastic book fair! It will be held on Thursday, September 21. This is a fantastic opportunity to explore new and bestselling titles right here at our school. Best of all, every purchase made at the fair supports our school and encourages a love for reading among our students!

Fair Hours:

  • Morning Session: 9:15 am to 11:45 am (Exclusively for Kindergarten parents who have morning teacher meetings)
  • Evening Session: 4:30 pm to 8:00pm (Open to all parents during our Meet the Teacher Night)

We look forward to seeing you there and thank you for your support in fostering a love for reading in our school community

U R Strong School

We are excited to announce that we are a U R Strong School!  This program will become part of our Health and Wellbeing curriculum for all grades at ROS.  The focus of this program is to teach students how to navigate friendship difficulties and build positive friendships.  Thanks to Parent Council for paying for this program.  As part of the membership fee, parents can also register for a U R Strong membership for free.  There are many resources that parents might find helpful in coaching their child through what can be some turbulent waters as students move through their school years.

You are invited to take advantage of a FREE Parent Membership to access hundreds of resources – including an 8 session video series. This will allow you to learn the same language & strategies being taught in the classroom through the Friendology 101 curriculum. We hope that, as a URSTRONG Family, you will reinforce the important messages of empowerment, self-compassion, & kindness at home.

Language of Friendship Overview: In this video, Dana Kerford (Friendship Expert & Founder of URSTRONG) will introduce you to URSTRONG’s simple framework for guiding children towards healthy friendships. Sit back and relax while Dana walks you through URSTRONG’s unique, kid-friendly language to teach friendship skills and conflict resolution! Language of Friendship Overview:

Labelling Student Coats, Gloves etc.

As you can imagine, we accumulate many lost and found items throughout the year.  We would ask that you please label your child’s clothing/supplies (coats, snow pants, gloves, lunch kits etc.) with your child’s first initial and last name.  This will make it possible to return it when it is found or if they come home with the wrong shoes you can return them to the school.  Inside the front doors, we have our lost and found items.  Unclaimed items will be bagged up and donated to charity at the winter break and at the end of June.

Hug & Go

In the AM only, please note that the Hug & Go in front of the school is meant as a quick drop off where students can exit vehicles on the curb side and move to their entry doors.  This is not an area where you should be parking and leaving your car in the morning. Insert map attachment  During after school pick up, it is fine to park in this location.
