Dear Royal Oak School Families,

Walk, Bike and Roll to School Day on May 28th: We’re excited to celebrate Walk, Bike & Roll Day on May 28th! This is a wonderful opportunity to promote healthy, active living while reducing traffic around our school. We encourage all students to travel to school in an active way—whether that’s walking, biking, scootering, rollerblading, or skateboarding. A reminder that if you are rolling to school to wear a helmet. Students bringing wheels can rest assured that they will be stored securely in the gym for the day. Please note that drop-off and pick-up for all grades will take place at the back compound/gym doors to support a safe and smooth flow of students and equipment. Students are reminded to take their helmets with them to store in their classrooms for the day. Before the event, students will be coming home with tags to write their names )first and last), grade and classroom number/ teacher.  This tag must be tied to your child’s handlebars to help organize and identify bikes at drop-off and pick-up time. To make this event a success, we are still in need of many volunteers. If you’re available to help, we would greatly appreciate your support in creating a fun and safe experience for all students. A valid police clearance is required. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0A4FA9AE2CA5F94-63800713-walk#/

Reminder: Morning Supervision and Student Safety: Please note that morning supervision at the school begins at 8:31 a.m. Students should not be dropped off, nor should they arrive by walking or biking independently, before this time. We kindly ask all families to follow this guideline to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, as there is no supervision available prior to 8:31 a.m. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep all students safe.

Sports Day is coming! Our annual Sports Day is Friday June 5th from 10:30 –12:00. We are once again looking for an enthusiastic group of volunteers to help run games and activities on this exciting day!   Mark your calendars and come out and play!  We need volunteers to help with setup, running stations, take down and distributing treats to students afterwards.  Please consider volunteering your time for this fun event: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0A4FA9AE2CA5F94-63801524-sports#/

Jump Rope for Heart: Students will participate in our annual Jump Rope for Heart Day on Thursday, June 11th. Leading up to the event we will learn about healthy habits, the importance of movement and ways we can stay fit for life. On Jump Day there will be different skipping centers, activities and challenges set up in the gym and on the compound for them to move through and have fun. We are not asking families to fundraise for this event, but if this cause is important to you then please feel free to donate at the link below. https://jumpropeforheart.crowdchange.ca/119143

Volunteer Appreciation Tea – Save the Date: Royal Oak School staff and students would like to invite our valued volunteers for a Volunteer Appreciation Tea on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 11:15-12:15.  Mark your calendars and watch for more information coming from our classroom teachers. Students and staff want to show their gratitude and celebrate the positive impact our volunteers have had on our school this year.

Grade 4 Year End Farewell- Save the Date: If you are the parent of a grade 4 student, please mark your calendars as we will be holding a Grade 4 Farewell Assembly on Wednesday, June 24th at 10:45 –11:45 (tentative). We will be able to welcome two family members per grade 4 student to attend this event.

Library Book Returns: With the end of the school year quickly approaching, we need to make sure that our library books are returned and accounted for. Please take some time to look around the house and return any overdue books that belong to the school.

Reminder: Dressing Appropriately for School: Students should be dressed to go outside for recess and lunch - rain or shine. Our temperature within the school can also vary, from area to area, so please remember to dress your child in layers that enable them to cool off (especially during a PE class) and warm up if they are in a classroom that is set at a cooler temperature. We also remind all students that dress and grooming at Royal Oak School should reflect that this is a place of work and learning. As such, we request that student dress respects: safety in all areas, and appropriateness for the school environment: i.e., no revealing clothing or any items that have messages that could offend others. We thank all parents/guardians for their support with this.
