Dear Royal Oak School Families,

Picture Day: On Wednesday, October 7th, Royal Oak School students will have their individual photos taken. Picture Retake Day is scheduled for Wednesday, November 4th.

International Walk to School Day October 7, 2026: International Walk to School Day gives children, parents, teachers and the community an opportunity to be part of a global event as they celebrate the many benefits of walking. In 2011, millions of children, parents, and community leaders from 40 countries around the world joined together in celebration of International Walk to School Day in October. We know that many of our students and families already walk to school on a daily basis already. However, if this is not part of your normal routine, we encourage you to try to fit this into your schedule next Wednesday.

Growing Enrollment and Staffing Update for Kindergarten Families: As a result of increased student enrollment, we are pleased to share that we have hired an additional Kindergarten teacher to join our school team. This new staffing support will allow us to better meet the needs of our growing Kindergarten community while maintaining a positive and engaging learning environment for all students. Our new teacher, Mrs. Suchutra Rao, will work alongside our current AM and PM Kindergarten teachers within the large learning space. Together, the team will collaborate to provide high-quality instruction and support for students. Throughout the day, teachers will also look for opportunities to work with students in smaller groups to enhance learning, build relationships, and respond to individual student needs. To allow time for thoughtful class organization and planning, Kindergarten families will be notified by Tuesday, October 13 regarding their child's assigned teacher. We are excited about this addition to our team and the enhanced opportunities it will provide for our Kindergarten students. Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we work to create the best possible learning experience for every child.

Extra Set of Clothing Reminder: As the weather changes and children continue to enjoy outdoor learning and play, we kindly ask all families to send an extra set of clothing in their child's backpack. Having a spare shirt, pants, underwear, and socks at school, helps ensure students remain comfortable in the event of an accident, spills, mud, puddles, or wet weather during outdoor activities. Please place the clothing in a labeled zipper bag and update the items throughout the year as your child grows and the seasons change. Thank you for helping us keep students comfortable, confident, and ready to learn throughout the day!

Annual CBE Online Forms - NOW OVERDUE! Each year, schools have a variety of forms that parents / legal guardians are required to complete or review and update, some of which are paper and others online. In CBE, the forms that have now shifted to an online format (SchoolEngage) are:

·         Demographic Verification 2026-27: This form includes your child’s personal information as well as parent / legal guardian contact information.

·         Citizenship Information Update 2026-27: This form becomes available if you change your child’s citizenship information on the Demographic Verification form.

·         Annual Authorization 2026-27

SchoolEngage is one of the applications found in your MyCBE account. This is the same account that you use to pay fees, view academic information, book school conferences, etc.  If you do not have a MyCBE account, on the MyCBE page click on Create a MyCBE Account. For online help refer, to MyCBE - Creating an Account (includes instructions and a video). These forms are mandatory every year for Alberta Education to confirm student funding.

Sincerely,

Michelle Ryskamp & Todd Faunt

Principal & Acting Assistant Principal, Royal Oak School
